On September 12, 2006, on behalf of the Peconic Estuary Program, Laura Stephenson (NYSDEC) and Laura Bavaro (SCDHS) kayacked the Peconic River segment from the most westward siting of Ludwigia peplioides during the August 14th survey to the Upper Mills Dam (over 2.6 miles) to document to the extent of the invasive Ludwigia peploides. Two large-scale Ludwigia hand pulling events took place this year: June 10, 2006 (61 volunteers&311.27 hours) and August 19th, 2006 (55 volunteers&approx. 333.58 hours).
